Commercial aircraft net orders came in at 249 for May 2013 with another 44 swaps and three cancellations.
In the highlights of the month, Turkish Airlines ordered 50 Boeing 737 Max aircraft and 20 737 NGs. SkyWest Airlines ordered 40 Embraer 175s while Canadian WestJet placed an order for ten 737 NGs. Southwest Airlines swapped 30 737s for the Max variant while the only cancellation of the month came from Tunisair who cancelled three Airbus A350s.
New orders for Boeing totalled 202, while Airbus received only three. Embraer took in 40 orders while Aircraft Industries Let, Cessna and Sukhoi received four, two and one respectively.
In the narrowbody market, 116 737 Max aircraft, 77 737NGs and three A320s were ordered during the month. In the widebody market, orders for a total of nine 777s were placed. In the regional market, 40 175s, four L-410s, two 208 Caravans and a single Superjet 100 were ordered.
Overall, the commercial aircraft order backlog ended May at 11,354, up 153 on the previous month.
