The first RE220 auxiliary power unit (APU), destined for use in the new long-range Bombardier and Gulfstream business jets, has been shipped from AlliedSignal Engines in Phoenix, Arizona, to the BMW Rolls-Royce test site in Oberursel, Germany for endurance tests. The RE220(GV) APU will have its first flight in the long range Gulfstream V in November 1995. A slightly different version, the RE220(GX), will be flown in the Bombardier Global Express in June 1996.
