US lighting and electronics specialist Astronics has acquired the assets of General Dynamics' loss-making Airborne Electronic Systems (AES) unit for $13 million in cash, plus up to $4 million contingent on 2005 revenues. AES, with sales last year of $25 million, produces electrical systems, including cabin power outlets for airliners and the electrical distribution system for the Eclipse 500. Astronics makes the Eclipse lighting system.
