Maritime craft air delivery systems (MCADS) built by HDT Global subsidiary Airborne Systems, was selected in July by the French Direction Generale de l'Armement (DGA) as the preferred aerial delivery system for a new line of Zodiac-built boats. MCADS is compatible with both the EADS A400M, of which France has 50 on order, and the Lockheed Martin C-130, 14 of which are operated by the French air force according to the Milicas database. MCADS is also certified for C-17s, which are operated by NATO.
The Royal Norwegian Air Force has also selected MCADS for its C-130 fleet, which consists of five H-models and four Js, according to Milicas.
HDT Global, the autonomous vehicle maker, is displaying a series of vehicles, including MCADs, at AUVSI. The Fredricksburg, Va.-based company will display the Mk1 Robotic Arm, the 32 Series AirBeam shelter, and the MCADS.
Airborne Systems was acquired by HDT Global in January, 2010. The company manufactures parachutes and delivery systems for a number of operators, including the US military.
