British Airways (BA) has temporarily suspended its services to Islamabad in Pakistan after the bombing of a hotel in the city which claimed around 53 lives.

The Oneworld carrier normally operates daily frequencies between London Heathrow and Islamabad, excluding Mondays.

A BA spokesman says yesterday evening's service was cancelled. He adds that tomorrow's flight has also been cancelled.

He says: "We are reviewing our operation. The safety of our customers and crew is of paramount importance and will not be compromised."
