British Airways has named transport firm Go-Ahead Group's finance director, Nick Swift, as its new chief financial officer.

Swift will replace Keith Williams in the post at the UK flag-carrier on 7 March next year, as Williams steps up to head the airline after its planned merger with Iberia.

Go-Ahead Group oversees several train and bus services within the UK.

Swift was appointed to its board as group finance director in mid-2007. He was previously group finance manager at Hanson and formerly held a financial post at Air New Zealand.
