BAE Systems Australia and Boeing have signed a teaming agreement to strengthen their relationship in the pursuit of sales of Boeing 737-based airborne early warning and control (AEW&C) aircraft. The companies are already working together to provide AEW&C 737s to Australia and Turkey and are involved in a bid to sell the type to South Korea. Australia's first of six Wedgetail AEW&C aircraft visited last week's show soon after undergoing high-power testing of its Northrop Grumman Mesa antenna's three arrays in the USA. BAE Australia is scheduled to deliver the first Wedgetail mission system in May 2006. The programme's first aircraft will return to Australia in August 2006 to complete final flight assessments, says Boeing.
