The sale by British Airways of its 18.25% stake in Qantas has boosted the role of banks and other institutional investors as Qantas shareholders. JP Morgan Nominees Australia now holds the largest single stake at 18.98%. Banks that were already Qantas shareholders ranked highest among the buyers of BA's stake.
