Israel Aerospace Industries' Bedek Aviation Group division is nearing approval for its passenger-to-freighter conversion programme for Boeing 737NGs.
The maintenance and conversion specialist is flight testing a 737-700 that has undergone the modification programme, and expects to gain a supplemental type certificate in the coming months.
Bedek general manager Yosi Melamed says four contracts for 737-700 passenger-to-freighter conversions have been signed and that negotiations are under way with more potential clients.
The Tel Aviv-based MRO provider has completed around 70 conversions on 737-300/400s since 2003.
Separately, Bedek expects an STC for winglet installations on 767-300s soon.
