Bell Helicopter says orders for its new 429 light-twin have reached 136, although its first flight is not due until the third quarter of 2006.
Bell (booth 245) says it will be an attractive proposition for business users, offering the volume of an intermediate sized aircraft with the operating costs of a light twin. A 200ft3 (5.67m3) cabin will allow seating for seven passengers plus one pilot and an empty weight of 4,300lb (1,950kg) will allow a range of 350nm (650km) and a useful load of 2,700lb.
