Airbus operations chief Gerard Blanc is quitting the European aircraft manufacturer reportedly in response to a failed bid to become Airbus chief executive following the recent management shake-up at parent company EADS. UK daily the Financial Times reports that DaimlerChrysler, one of the largest shareholders of EADS, blocked Blanc’s move to the top position. Former Airbus chief operating officer Gustav Humbert became chief executive after weeks of wrangling.
