Seven Q Seven has begun flight testing its Boeing 707-300 development aircraft equipped with a 21,000lb-thrust (94kN) Pratt & Whitney JT8D-219 engine installed in place of the no.1 JT3D. The 3h flight was the beginning of the first stage of the flight-test programme, which is due to be completed by the end of the month. All four JT3Ds will be replaced by JT8D-219s on the test aircraft later this year, with commercial certification in mid-2000.
