Boeing has emerged as the sole potential US partner for joint production of Israel's Arrow anti-tactical ballistic missile.
This follows Raytheon's decision not to compete and Israel Aircraft Industries' (IAI) removal of Lockheed Martin from the contenders list in October.
An IAI source confirms Raytheon has decided to withdraw, and adds: "The negotiations with Boeing are intensive but there is no agreement yet."
IAI is seeking a US partner to allow the Israelis to purchase additional Arrow batteries using US foreign military sales funds, and to reduce manufacturing costs in an attempt to make it exportable. Turkey and Japan have expressed an interest.
Meanwhile, IAI division Elta, is offering versions of its Green Pine phased array radar - developed as Arrow's principal detection sensor and fire control unit - for the upgrade of Russian air defence systems such as the Almaz S-300 (SA-10 Grumble/SA-12).
