Final assembly of the first Boeing 737-600 is being completed at the company's Renton, Seattle, plant, with roll-out scheduled for December. The aircraft will be joined by two other -600s in the six-month flight-test programme, which is expected to culminate in certification in mid-1998. Deliveries to SAS will begin soon afterwards. Meanwhile, final assembly of the first of 12 Boeing 737-700s for the European launch customer, Maersk Air, is now under way. The airline will put the first aircraft into service early in 1998, following European Joint Aviation Authorities certification.
