Aerospan, the SITA-owned e-commerce marketplace, says it has delivered on its promise, made at last year¹s Farnborough Show, to deliver a neutral business-to-business operation for the buying and selling of aviation parts.

At Paris it is moving on by unveiling an expanded portfolio of products tailored to airlines and maintenance organisations, says chief executive Duncan Alexander.

The company claims that 72 airlines and 102 suppliers are already using its Aerospares e-marketplace - some on a trial basis - while one original equipment manufacturer and four aftermarket spares suppliers are full members.

Solutions

It has announced three new services: Aerosearch for aircraft-on-ground solutions, Aeroplan for asset management, and Aero MRO tracker, for tracking spares.

Others will be added soon, including a financial settlement function and a way of finding skilled personnel.

Aerospan was initially formed as a joint venture by SITA and components supply and maintenance provider AAR, but the latter sold most of its stake to SITA last October after complaints from airlines who wanted the marketplace to be independent.
