Boeing has formally launched its 777 Freighter programme following the recent order for five aircraft plus three options from Air France for delivery from late 2008. Air Canada has also stated its intention to acquire the aircraft as part of its widebody fleet-renewal programme. The 777 Freighter will be based on the newly developed 777-200LR ultra-long-range passenger variant. The freighter will have a range of 9,200km (4,970nm) with full payload.
