Boeing has had a flat 2005 in output terms due to the impact of industrial action, but has seen its backlog surge by almost 65% after its record order tally.
The US airframer released details of its deliveries this week and a closer look at the figures reveals that despite a record year in order terms, it only delivered 290 aircraft last year, up from 285 in 2004. This flat output was largely due to a strike by machinists at its Seattle facilities in the third quarter of last year.
Boeing's order backlog, meanwhile, increased from almost 1,100 at the end of 2004 to 1,809 on 31 December 2005. This represents a rise of 64.9%.
Last year marked the final delivery of the 757 family line, with other types' deliveries largely unchanged on 2004 figures.
