Bombardier Aerospace has inaugurated its 22,110m2 (238,000ft2) aircraft parts distribution warehouse at Chicago’s O’Hare International airport. The facility has an inventory of more than 120,000 unique parts, says the manufacturer. “This is a major step in our drive to improve parts availability, quality and delivery speed,” says Desmond Bell, vice-president parts logistics at Bombardier Aerospace. When the new distribution centre reaches full capacity, it is expected to ship up to 1,000 orders a day. The manufacturer already has a similar facility in Frankfurt, Germany, and will open spare parts depots in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, later this year and in Sao Paulo, Brazil, in 2006.
