Bombardier is increasing the maximum take-off weight (MTOW) of its six-seat Learjet 31A light business jet by 317kg, to 8,029kg (17,700lb). The increase, the third in the aircraft's 11-year history, is available as an option on all new Learjet 31As and as a retrofit on in-service aircraft through a service bulletin.

"The MTOW, which recently received US Federal Aviation Administration approval, will provide substantially more flexibility for those operating an aircraft equipped with extended range tanks, or which are configured for special missions," says the Montreal, Canada-based manufacturer, which has delivered more than 168 31s and 31As.

• European air charter operator Gold Air International has ordered two Learjet 45s, with an option for two, marking the largest Learjet 45 order from a UK customer. Gold Air, which operates 12 aircraft from its Biggin Hill, Kent, and Cambridge Airport bases, plans to take delivery of the first two twin-engined aircraft in the first quarter of 2001.
