CFM International and the Civil Aviation Administration of China have begun construction of a new joint venture, engine maintenance training centre, in Chengdu. The school, due to open in 1997, is modeled on General Electric and CFMI training sites in the USA and France.
A temporary centre, in the meantime, is being equipped with CFM56-3 and CF6-60C2 training engines.
