Upgrade The Bulgarian ministry of defence has frozen negotiations with Elbit systems and Lockheed Martin over the upgrade of the country's Mil Mi-17 and Mi-24 helicopters. The projected value of the work was $75 million. The two companies were selected last December to perform the upgrade to ensure the helicopters comply with NATO standards, with Elbit acting as prime contractor. Israeli sources say heavy Russian pressure on the Bulgarian government led to the breakdown of negotiations.
