FUEL REDUCTION
Business aircraft charter and leasing company XOJET has reduced by 9% the fuel surcharge for on-demand flights that it put in place in the wake of record-high oil prices. The reduction will save customers around $1000 on the cost of a round-trip US transcontinental flight. "For us, the decision is simple. A surcharge is a necessity to offset costs that are out of our control it should never be confused with a revenue stream or a means of nickel and diming clients. If the price of oil goes down, the surcharge should be reduced as well," says XOJET.
LUXURY DEAL
US fractional ownership provider Flight Options has teamed with luxury resort owner Sanctuary on Camelback Mountain to offer resort guests access to its 120-strong business aircraft fleet with no minimum leasing terms or programme fees. Flight Options' clients are also given access to the Scottsdale Arizona-based resort, including special rates, "Private air travel is becoming increasingly important to our guests, and this programme gives them a flexible, no-strings-attached opportunity to use Flight Options' services," says Sanctuary.
EMBRAER FACILITY
Embraer has opened a 4,430m2 (47,700ft2) hangar at Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport, in Mesa, Arizona dedicated to the service and maintenance of the Brazilian airframers' Phenom 100, Phenom 300, Legacy 450, Legacy 500 and Legacy 600 business jets.
LEA EXCELS
London Executive Aviation has added a fourth Cessna Citation Excel business jet to fleet. The super light nine-seat aircraft - registration number G-XLGB, will be managed by LEA and available for charter from LEA's new base at Stansted.
GARMIN RETROFIT
South Africa's National Airways Corporation is planning to offer the Garmin G-1000 retrofit for the Beechcraft King Air 200 from December this year and predicts strong demand for the upgrade. "To date, the only glass-panel solution for King Air 200's has been the Alliant flightdeck of which NAC has completed two installations. The G-1000 offers more to our customers as it is a genuinely integrated system which includes RVSM and synthetic vision," says NAC.
