RIZON BOOST
Qatar-headquartered business aviation services provider Rizon Jet has recorded a 300% increase in movements at its one-year-old VIP terminal at London's Biggin Hill airport, following a surge in private jet charters to the capital for high-profile events including the Diamond Jubilee celebrations. "Six months into our second year, movements and passenger numbers at our London base are up by almost 300% compared with last year," says Allan McGreal, Rizon Jet UK's fixed-base operations director. Rizon's maintenance business - particularly for Bombardier and Hawker aircraft - has also seen a boost. "Despite the backdrop of a gloomy economy, and a general flat trend in the business aviation market, Rizon Jet UK really is bucking the trend and delivering month-on-month growth," adds McGreal.
COMPLETION TIE-UP
Greenpoint Technologies has inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with maintenance, repair and overhaul provider Ameco Beijing to co-operate on commercial and business jet completion work in China and the Asia-Pacific region. The MoU is the first step in finalising a relationship for collaborative engineering, certification and installation of narrow and widebody business jet modifications, says Kirkland, Washington-based Greenpoint - a Boeing Business Jets completion centre.
GLOBAL ORDER
Bombardier has secured an order for eight business jets from an undisclosed customer. The deal - valued at more than $500 million - consists of three Global 6000s and five Global 8000s.
PHENOM 300 APPROVAL
Embraer's Phenom 300 has received Canadian certification, paving the way for the Brazilian airframer to boost its share of the light business jet market in North America. The continent already accounts for 50% of its 300+ Phenom sales to date, it says.
