DALLAS AGREEMENT

US maintenance company Dallas Airmotive has signed a five-year maintenance agreement with fractional provider Avantair to provide repair, hot section inspection, overhaul and field service on the Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A-66 engines that power Avantair's fleet of Piaggio P180 Avanti twin turboprops. Avantair engines will be serviced from Dallas Airmotive's Charlotte, North Carolina site and its Dallas, Texas major overhaul facility. Avantair operates more than 50 Piaggio Avantis.

CESSNA EXPANDS

Cessna is to build its new European Citation centre in Valencia airport in Spain. The decision follows two years of studies, research and negotiations with the Spanish authorities. "With over 1,000 Citations operating in Europe and more on the way, the new facility in Spain will be an excellent complementary location for our Paris service centre, offering our customers yet another option for service in an area we did not serve before," says Cessna's senior vice-president, customer service Mark Paolucci. The Valencia will offer roughly 5,800m² (62,400ft²) of hangar space and 3,500m² of office and administration spaces.

SAXON SNAPPED UP

UK-based air charter company SaxonAir Charter and its ground handling division SaxonAir Flight Support have been snapped up by Klyne Aviation. Norwich-based Klyne plans to expand the business significantly with the addition of a Cessna Citation Mustang very light jet and a Hawker 400XP light jet and will operate under the SaxonAir brand. Plans are also under consideration for the construction of a business aviation centre and hangar facility, adjacent to the existing site at Norwich airport, to accommodate the expansion of the fleet and operations.

SHELL BUY

Shell Brazil has acquired the arm of sugar and ethanol producer Cosan that is responsible for the distribution of aviation fuels. The acquisition is a strategic move for Shell Aviation in Brazil and will strengthen its position in the country's aviation sector, the oil giant says. Cosan acquired this business segment from Esso in 2008. In the same year Shell Aviation marketed about 1.6 billion litres (420 million USgal) in more than 50 airports throughout Brazil while Cosan's supply reached around 560 million litres across seven airports.
