LEARJET FACILITY
Bombardier has inaugurated its 20,560m2 (221,300ft2) Learjet 85 component manufacturing base at Queretaro, Mexico. The facility is responsible for building the Learjet 85's major composite structures, including fuselage lay-up and subsystem installation, wiring harness fabrication and installation, wing assembly and horizontal and vertical stabiliser assemblies. "We are on target with all of our programme objectives, and production of the first composite parts for the Learjet 85 at our Mexico facility is under way," says Bombardier. The $18.25 million midsize business jet - which will be assembled at Bombardier's US facility in Wichita, Kansas - is scheduled to enter service in 2013.
JETCARD EXPANDS
International aircraft broker Air Partner has added the Middle East as the third service area for its charter jet card customers. The move was prompted by customer demand "and a significant improvement in the quality and quantity of private aircraft available for charter in the Middle East over the last 12 months", says Air Partner. The Middle East JetCard is aimed at local business and leisure travellers wishing to fly within their home region and at overseas visitors to the Middle East - including card holders in its European and US service areas - who need or want to undertake multi-centre trips.
