LANDMARK COMMUNICATIONS

International Communications Group has signed an agreement with Landmark Aviation to install a version of its Sora advanced voice and data satellite communications system on Bombardier Challenger 600 series business jets. Work is set to begin at Landmark's Winston-Salem facility, with supplemental type certification targeted for mid-May.

GULFSTREAM SUPPORT

Gulfstream has opened an in-flight support centre designed "to help its technical operations department to troubleshoot in-flight situations faster". Gulfstream says the call centre is manned by more than 40 technical/system specialists and features three flightdeck simulators into which specialists induce faults to mirror what is happening in flight. "The three cubical-sized simulators feature 10-12 LCD touchscreen monitors with displays of the aircraft's cockpit, instrument panel and pedestal. They replicate or closely recreate what the pilot sees and experiences for virtually every aircraft system," says the airframer.

COCKPIT APPROVAL

Garmin and German aircraft services company Kuerzi Avionics have gained European Aviation Safety Agency certification for the installation of the G500H glass cockpit in the Eurocopter AS350 light single-engined helicopter. The G500H is designed for the visual flight rules market and features in its primary flight display airspeed, vertical speed, altitude and course/heading information. The multifunction display has detailed moving map graphics with the helicopter's current position in relation to terrain, chart data, navigation aids and flightplan routeings.

LUXURY TIE-UP

Online booking company PrivateFly has signed a partnership with Glasgow-based luxury transport provider Phantom Scotland to offer online private jet booking. The tie-up is in response to a demand for business aircraft travel in Scotland from companies, private individuals and large groups, says PrivateFly.
