FLIGHT TESTING

Clifford Development's Cessna Citation S550 completed its first two development flights on 18 July at its Kalamazoo, Michigan base. Clifford has replaced the aircraft's original Pratt & Whitney Canada JT15D-4 engines with Williams International FJ44-3A turbofans and attached winglets that will enable the S550 to climb directly to FL430 in 27min, improve its one-engine-inoperative climb rate by 34% and increase its range by up to 40%, The aircraft will be transferred to Mojave, California in the coming weeks to begin 100h of flight testing. Supplemental type certification of the $2.3 million conversion is earmarked for the fourth quarter.


DAYJET EXPANDS

DayJet has expanded its service network by 30% with the addition of two primary DayPorts - in Orlando and St Petersburg-Clearwater, Florida, and 14 secondary DayStops. The Boca Raton-based operator now flies to more than 60 community airports across Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina and South Carolina. Since the launch of its "per-seat, on-demand" jet service in October last year, DayJet has tripled its DayPort service network. In Florida alone, 83% of the state's population now lives within 65km (40 miles) of a DayPort airport, says DayJet.
