Bombardier has secured steep-approach certification from Transport Canada for its Challenger 350, and says US and European validation for the enhancement is expected soon.
The approvals will allow owners and operators of the super-midsize business jet to perform landings under strict conditions, including using the 5.5° approach angle and short runway at London City airport, where the aircraft "has already performed several take-offs and landings to demonstrate its capability", says Bombardier.

Peter Likoray, Bombardier Business Aircraft senior vice-president, sales and marketing, describes the award as "a major milestone for the Challenger 350 programme", which he hails as "an undeniable leader in its segment".
Flight Fleets Analyzer records a global fleet of 245 Challenger 350s, with the type having entered service in 2014.
The steep-approach capability will be offered as a retrofit option on the current fleet via Bombardier's service centre network.
The manufacturer's large-cabin Challenger 650 and long-range Global 5000 and 6000 are also cleared to operate at airports with steep approaches, such as Lugano-Agno and Sion in Switzerland.
