Turbomeca

Turbomeca, whose US business is getting a boost from state funds. The Safran subsidiary has been awarded a $2.5 million grant by the North Carolina Economic Investment Committee to build a facility that will create around 180 local jobs. The grant will be paid over 12 years if the company meets certain goals. Turbomeca is also getting half a million dollars from the One North Carolina Fund, which aims to encourage business growth in the state.

Eurocopter.

The helicopter manufacturer's plan to take a majority stake in Romania's IAR Brasov has hit a brick wall after rejection by Romanian authorities. The Authority for State Assets Recovery has given no reason for its decision. EADS-owned Eurocopter says the obstacle in the path of its plan to own more than two-thirds of the company does not affect its joint venture with IAR Brasov, but the company declines to comment on whether it will make another bid.
