To be included in this new section of the Nasdaq companies must fulfil strict market value, liquidity and earnings criteria. Fewer than a third of Nasdaq companies qualify. Michael Hartnett, chief executive of the US-based manufacturer of precision bearings, says the listing will "increase our market visibility as we continue to execute on our strategic growth plan".

 

Srilankan airlines,

which is bracing itself for a possible loss this year as renewed security concerns in the country hit revenues while high fuel prices are pushing up costs. Chief executive Peter Hill says the $15 million impact on first-half results could double by the end of next March. The carrier is being forced to look at markets such as India and the Maldives to fill empty seats as a large number of expatriate Sri Lankans have not been returning over the summer.
