Canada and the USA yesterday signed a bilateral accord that will permit conversion of commercial and private fixed wing aircraft pilot licences and certificates from 1 December.
The implementation procedures for licensing agreement allows for the transfer of night rating, instrument rating, multi-engine class rating and type ratings.
Canada’s transport minister Lawrence Cannon says: “Today’s agreement builds upon a long history of cooperation in aviation between Canada and the USA.”
“Transport Canada and the [US Federal Aviation Administration] FAA have evaluated and compared each other’s pilot licensing standards and procedures. This was done to determine what, if any, additional requirements would be necessary to assure that pilots are in compliance with standards in each respective country,” the Canadian transport regulator adds.
