Air Canada is to fully absorb Canadian Airlines, closing the latter's Calgary head office to create a single carrier based at its own Montreal headquarters. Air Canada blames Canadian's financial situation for the move, saying it discovered only in January that the airline was losing C$2 million ($1.34 million) a day. No timetable has been given for the full merger, but the two have already combined reservation systems.
