Cathay Pacific and Lufthansa Group carriers are expanding their codeshare partnership on flights between Hong Kong and Europe, which takes effect on 17 July.
Under the deal, Cathay will place its code on the daily Hong Kong-Frankfurt and Hong Kong-Munich flights operated by Lufthansa, and daily Hong Kong-Zurich flights flown by Swiss.
In return, Lufthansa and Swiss will respectively codeshare on the daily Hong Kong-Frankfurt and Hong Kong-Zurich flights that Cathay operates.
“Europe is a key market for us and a popular destination for many of our passengers,” says Paul Loo, Cathay’s chief customer and commercial officer.
“These added services not only give our customers more non-stop options, but also make it easier to transfer onto connecting flights to destinations across the region.”
Cathay and Lufthansa Group carriers have existing codeshare agreements on flights to European cities, as well as on to Australia and New Zealand.
Since February 2017, customers could also book cargo space on flights operated by Cathay and Lufthansa Cargo from Hong Kong to Europe. In April, the agreement was expanded to accept shipments in the other direction.
