Russian analysts are preparing to begin endurance testing of the Irkut MC-21-300’s horizontal stabiliser this month.
The stabiliser has been delivered to the Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute in Moscow, the organisation states.
Prior to the testing the stabiliser is undergoing ultrasonic inspection.
It will then be subjected to cyclic loading to simulate regular flight stresses and establish normal failure paths for structures and components.
The institute says loads applied to the stabiliser will equate to 60,000 cycles.
Aviastar assembled the stabiliser which is built from composite structures manufactured by Technologiya, based in Obninsk.
