New member of family to be unveiled next month

Honouring its tradition of continuous product development in the entry-level to mid-size business jet categories, Cessna is to launch the latest member of the CitationJet family, the CJ4 light jet. The seven-seat aircraft will be one of two new business jets to be officially unveiled by Cessna at next month's National Business Aviation Association Convention in Orlando, Florida.

"Cessna is known for offering customers a product range that fits just about every market requirement," says Roger Whyte, Cessna's senior vice-president of sales and marketing. He adds: "The success of the CJ1+, CJ2+ and CJ3 proves that Cessna's basic philosophy for the family is right on target. The CJ4 is simply the latest manifestation of our philosophy, filling a market niche within our range of aircraft that we think will be very popular."

The CJ4 is a stretched version of the CJ3, but with a swept wing using the same profile as that of mid-size Citation Sovereign.

The new aircraft will be equipped with Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21 avionics and will provide a 455kg (1,000lb) full-fuel payload, a range of 3,400km (1,840nm) and a cruise speed of 425kt (785km/h) at 41,000ft (12,500m).

The CJ4 will be powered by two 3,400lb-thrust (15kN) Williams International FJ44-4A turbofans and will seat up to eight passengers. The aircraft will be certificated for operations up to 45,000ft and is scheduled to make its flight in early 2008, leading to certification by 2010.
