The US Federal Aviation Administration has just awarded full certification to Bombardier's Challenger 350 business jet, the latest development in its 300 series aircraft. Transport Canada certification had already been granted on June 12, 2014.
"FAA certification for the Challenger 350 aircraft is another key step on the path to entry-into-service," said Stephane Leblanc, vice president and general manager, Challenger programmes, commenting: "Designed with the feedback from existing Challenger aircraft owners and operators, this new aircraft will meet their ever-growing needs. We are looking forward to delivering this segment-leading aircraft and are confident that our customers will love it."
Compared with the Challenger 300, the 350 offers increased performance from its twin Honeywell HTF7350 engines, each producing 7,323lb (33 kN) of thrust, and boasts increased aerodynamic efficiency with new canted winglets. The increased power provides a higher climb rate which, with improved efficiency, gives greater range. Bombardier says the 350, with seats and tanks full, will fly 3,200nm (5,926 km), enabling it to connect Paris with Dubai non-stop.
The cabin has larger windows and more advanced environmental controls, and the cockpit is equipped with Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21 Advanced avionics system featuring synthetic vision, dual inertial reference systems, a paperless capable cockpit and multiscan weather radar.
