Taiwan's China Airlines and its subsidiary Mandarin Airlines have confirmed the Chinese cities they will serve once scheduled cross-straits flights start.
China Airlines will fly from Taiwan's capital Taipei to Beijing, Shanghai-Pudong, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Chengdu and Xian. It will also operate flights from Kaohsiung to Shanghai-Pudong and Shenzhen, says a spokeswoman in an email to ATI.
Mandarin Airlines, its regional subsidiary, will fly from Taipei to Shenyang, Changsha, Ningbo, Nanjing, Xiamen, and Zhengzhou. It will also operate services from Taichung to Ningbo and Hangzhou, and from Kaohsiung to Ningbo and Hangzhou.
The spokeswoman adds that the frequency has not been decided, and the airline is waiting for the Taiwanese Civil Aeronautics Administration's "official order and announcement" for when the services will begin.
The services are the result of a new agreement in April that allows scheduled flights for the first time between the two since 1949. The agreement increases the number of passenger flights each week between China and Taiwan to 270 from 108. Until now, there have been only charter flights between Taiwan and China.
