China and the USA have signed a new air services agreement doubling flights between the two countries by April 2001. It takes the number of carriers serving the market to four each and increases the range of cities served. No deal was struck on Chinese entry to the World Trade Organisation, however. "We need to get a deal," says Boeing chairman Phil Condit, who believes an agreement would aid US exports to China.
