A China Eastern Airlines Airbus A321 aircraft skidded off the runway at Hong Kong International airport on 24 May, after landing in heavy rain.
In a short statement, China Eastern confirmed the incident and said that the aircraft was operated by its Jiangsu branch. It added that all passengers and crew on the aircraft are safe, and apologised for the convenience to its passengers. The aircraft was operating flight MU765 from Nanjing to Hong Kong.
Pictures on social media show that the aircraft's nose gear and right main landing gear exited the runway, with the jet resting partially on a grass area off the runway.
The incident led HKIA to temporarily shut its north runway, and divert all flights to the south runway.
Flight tracking websites list the aircraft as registered B-6366. Flight Fleets Analyzer shows that the CFM International CFM56-powered jet was built in 2008 and owned by 2008 Newine Finance 5 SAS.
