China Eastern Airlines has reported an 8% increase in RPKs in November, helped by growth in the domestic and international markets.
Domestic RPKs grew 12%, international RPKs increased 3% and regional RPKs fell 24%, says the Shanghai-based carrier. Regional traffic refers to that from Hong Kong and Macau.
In real terms, the total number of passengers carried by the carrier grew 11% to 3.6 million passengers. Domestic numbers increased 14% to 3.1 million, international numbers grew 5% to 348,300 and regional numbers fell 16% to 147,910.
Capacity, as measured by ASKs, grew 2% year-on-year. Domestic ASKs increased 8%, but capacity in the international and regional sectors was cut by 6% and 29% respectively, says China Eastern.
The overall passenger load factor grew four percentage points to 73.7%. The domestic passenger load factor increased by three percentage points to 76.2%, the international load factor rose six percentage points to 67.1% and the regional load factor grew five percentage points to 72.3%.
In terms of cargo, overall RFTKs grew 29%. Domestic RFTKs increased 33%, international RFTKs rose 28% and regional RFTKs grew 3%, says the airline.
