Cessna is targeting entry-level customers with its new CitationShares fractional ownership programme. Prices for the scheme undercut existing new aircraft fractional programmes substantially (Flight International, 18-24 July).

CitationShares, a joint venture with New York-based TAG Aviation which will focus on the north-east USA, will sell shares in Cessna's entry-level Citation CJ1 and Citation Bravo light jet - aircraft that are not available under other fractional schemes.

The price of a one-eighth share has been set at $522,000 for the CJ1 and $707,000 for the Bravo. Cessna says these prices compare with $812,000 for a one-eighth share of a Learjet 31A under Bombardier's FlexJet programme, $828,000 for a Raytheon Travel Air Beechjet 400A, and $835,000 for a Citation Ultra under Executive Jet's market-leading NetJets scheme.

Management fees and occupancy charges are also claimed to be lower with CitationShares.
