Michael Targoff has resigned from the board of the satellite communications firm Viasat. The resignation is believed to be because of a conflict of interest. Targoff is chief executive of satellite communications firm Loral Space & Communications, which Viasat is in the process of suing for alleged breach of contract and patent infringements. Loral’s manufacturing arm, Space Systems/Loral, built Viasat’s broadband satellite Viasat 1 which was launched in October last year. It is alleged by Viasat that Loral has been using intellectual property related to the technology of this satellite.
