Continental Airlines is to press on with delivery of Boeing aircraft after all staff sectors except its flight attendants agreed new labour deals.

The SkyTeam carrier says its pilots, mechanics, dispatchers and simulator engineers have ratified new collective bargaining agreements. But flight attendants, represented by the International Association of Mechanics and Aerospace Workers, failed to ratify them.

Last month Continental warned of the serious implications of failing to secure full union agreement on new labour deals by 30 March, including cancelling plans to lease eight Boeing 757-300s and orders for 10 787s. The carrier hopes the staff deals will save it about $420 million a year.
