UK manufacturer Contour Aerospace says it supplied first class seats for Air China's new Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, which will enter service later this month.
The so-called Mercury suite was chosen by Air China "ahead of its competitors because of its intuitive design which matched Air China's vision and provided their customers with the maximum in space, privacy and comfort", said Contour Aerospace in a statement.
Air China recently took delivery of the first of 19 777-300ERs on order. Boeing is scheduled to deliver an additional three 777-300ERs to the airline by the end of this year. The Star Alliance carrier will use the aircraft for its direct services to Frankfurt, London and Paris.
"We have worked closely with Boeing and Air China over the last 18 months to ensure the Mercury Suites were certified and delivered on time," added Contour Aerospace senior programme manager Graham McNamara.
"We are pleased to say that despite a tight schedule to work with, which involved an intensive smoke and toxicity and cyclic testing campaign, the suite has outperformed expectations in the areas of reliability and efficiency."
