CASA has won a five year, Ptas18,000 million ($113 million) contract to upgrade the tactical mission system of the Spanish air force's five Lockheed P-3 Orion maritime patrol aircraft. Northrop Grumman has won a $15.8 million contract to supply 16 ALQ-131 Block II electronic countermeasures pods to the Norwegian air force. Smiths Industries Aerospace and GKN Westland have signed a memorandum of understanding to develop an integrated cockpit display for the Super Lynx 300 helicopter. L-3 Communications has won a $3.6 million contract to upgrade the UK Defence Evaluation and Research Agency's Hebrides range in Scotland. The range is used for aircraft and weapons flight trials. CASA and Hellenic Aerospace Industry have signed a co-operation agreement which will see Hellenic manufacture components for the CASA CN235, C295 and Airbus aircraft. Thomson Thorn Missile Electronics has won an order from Raytheon to provide a minimum of 600 target detection devices, or fuses, for Lot 14 and Lot 15 production batches of the Advanced Medium Range Air-To-Air Missile. Samsung Aerospace has selected Leland, a Smiths Industries Aerospace business unit, to provide seven prototype variable speed constant frequency generators for the KTX-2 advanced trainer/lead-in light combat aircraft. The three year development and test contract is worth $2 million. Greece has approval from the US Defense Department to buy four used Boeing AH-64A Apaches from the US Army for $11 million. The Greek army operates 20 AH-64As. Lockheed Martin has awarded Northrop Grumman a $3.1 million, three-year subcontract to support its P-3C Orion Service Life Assessment Programme. Northrop Grumman will design and build test fixtures, test the landing gear to simulated service loads and conduct structural analyses and design modifications to the landing gear.
