Bombardier is restarting its turbine conversion programme to operators of its 215T amphibian, around 20 years after the first conversion programme was launched. The decision follows an $85 million order for nine kits from operators in the Canadian provinces of Alberta and Saskatchewan. The upgrade programme features the uprated PW123AF Pratt & Whitney turboprop engines as well as new structural components and an electrical distribution system and engine fuel system. Seventeen 215s were converted in the late 1980s and have since flown over 70,000h and performed more than 170,000 drops combined, says Bombardier.
