Croatia Airlines' chief executive, Ivan Misetic, is stepping down from his position at the head of the Balkan carrier.

He is to join as general secretary of Zagreb-based sports food and consumer health operation Atlantic Grupa.

While a spokeswoman for the Star Alliance airline confirms the move, she declines to give further details on the decision.

She says that she is expecting an official announcement this week. Croatia Airlines has not indicated a successor to Misetic.

Atlantic Grupa says that Misetic is likely to take up the post, working alongside the chief executive, in the next few days.
