The Croatian air force lost two of its Mikoyan MiG-21 fighters to a mid-air collision on 13 September, although both pilots ejected safely.
The aircraft, which had been involved in a training exercise with two more MiG-21s, crashed near the town of Plaski. The other pair returned to Pula air base following the mishap.
The downed pilots were recovered by a Mil Mi-171 transport helicopter and flown to a hospital in Zagreb.
Flightglobal’s MiliCAS database lists the Croatian air force as having had 12 MiG-21s prior to the accident.
