The latest two-sided radio/mobile phone system from Nokia is being displayed by the Dubai Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) Operations (Stand E857).

The Nokia THR880 TETRA system has been purchased by both the DCA and Dubai Police with the DCA keen for airline operators to adopt it.

"The THR880 system is quick and easy to use with a clear reception and we hope to raise awareness of it during the show," says Rashid Sarfraz, radio engineer, DCA. "We would like to see as many airline operators using the system for their ground-to-ground operations as soon as possible."

The two-sided concept allows the user to utilise the radio side for group communication while the phone side can be used for call and text messaging. Easy to use, it allows users to quickly switch between the two functions.

Each handset can be used by several users with different management rights. Different group functions can be activated by entering personal access codes.
