Atlanta, Georgia-based Delta Technology, the information technology (IT) subsidiary of Delta Air Lines, has signed a long-term joint development plan with Dublin-based IT firm Datalex-Web Ventures to build new reservations and information systems for the carrier's user applications.

The systems will provide Delta with a new call centre interface, interactive ticket kiosks and the next generation internet booking engine for the SkyLinks web site, Delta-air.com.

Using web browser-based screens and a middle-tier server, the airline will produce customised interfaces that access information stored across multiple database systems, including its mainframe airline central reservations system.

According to the chief technical officer of Datalex-Web Ventures, Jim Peters, the technology will enable Delta to provide employees and customers with the information they require, regardless of data origin or location.

The project will fall within the multi-year master services agreement managed by IXL, an internet services company.

Delta and Datalex-Web Ventures will offer their IT solutions to organisations both inside and outside the travel and transportation industries.
